Kicking!

Just to bring everyone up to date on “The art of Flogging” DVD Kickstarter project:

The company chosen to work with us on filming the project is: The Kink Domane.
They will be able to supply the equipment, manpower, filming, editing and sound for the DVD.
We have already finished the promotional video for the project and we are hoping to have it live within a week.
We will have only 30 days to reach our target goal and all information about what we hope to include will be posted as soon as the project goes live. I will be supplying a list of the things which the project funds will need to be spent on in order to complete the project, so everyone will know where the money is going. Obviously the more funding we make, the more we will be able to do and the better we will be able to do it.

All advertising and backing of this project will be greatly appreciated and there will be some nice rewards given away to people who lend monetary support to the project.
There will also be options for kink orientated businesses to be plugged in the DVD by sponsoring the project.

I have started a group on Fetlife to spread the word and keep people who do not follow my blog up to date. You can join this group at:

This should end up being something pretty awesome.

A Velvet Thought – Mistresses Musings: To kick or not to kick

I get asked, almost on a daily basis, to make some official tutorial videos on flogging and similar. While many admit the snippits of video that have managed to be taken at a couple of my workshops have been helpful, people have been screaming for more and in more detail.

In truth, the amount of knowledge I have rattling around in my brain on it all would be enough to fill a DVD.

And so it has been suggested that I might try doing just that. The main problem being, well, everything.

Video recording equipment, lighting, any other equipment, software or personnel that may be required, editing. Everything costs money, experience and time. Even something as small as a youtube video.

A friend of mine suggested that I should start a Kickstarter project to try and get funding for creating a DVD.

I would really like to know people’s opinion and if anyone would add to the backing of such a project.

Please leave your comments below and let me know your thoughts.

Quotations: 2014

Continuing the quotations of the year posts, here is the selection for 2014.

You can see the ‘Quotations 2011’ post: Here
You can see the ‘Quotations 2012’ post: Here
You can see the ‘Quotations 2013’ post: Here

Favorite quotations of the past year (including some that I have not been able or bothered to ‘tweet‘) in a single blog post purely for fun.

As usual, no names will be mentioned (with the exception of my own) and people will be referred to in an anonymous fashion or title. Of course, you will all know who you are from being present when I had said the quote in question. Try also to bear in mind that almost all of these quotes have been said in the heat of the moment and are not meant to offend any readers of my blog.

Enjoy.

Friend:
“There was a young demon called Hawk,
Who thrilled when her toy couldn’t talk,
When its ass was aglow,
And its mouth formed an ‘O’,
She plugged up the hole with a cork.”

Aemilia Hawk: “You know it is going to be a good day when you have been saying ‘Clit’ for half an hour instead of ‘Clip'”.

Friend: “You wouldn’t want to eat a friend, would you?”
Aemilia Hawk: “Certainly not without pepper.”

Aemilia Hawk: “Those who say “there’s nothing like a nice cup of tea for calming the nerves” have never had ‘real’ tea.”

Aemilia Hawk: “Why is it that wherever I go, the resident idiot heads straight for me?”

Aemilia Hawk: “We all know how stupid the average person is. Now realise that, by definition, 50% of the population is dumber than that.”

Aemilia Hawk: “I am one of those bad things that can happen to good people.”

Aemilia Hawk: “I have noticed that most humans want to be good people. Just not ‘too’ good and not quite all the time.”

Aemilia Hawk: “I love dog’s but I often loath the people who keep them. They tend to be cowards who do not have the guts to bite people themselves.”

Aemilia Hawk: “Where have you been? You stink of mundane.”

Aemilia Hawk: “I am totally fluffy.”

Aemilia Hawk: “I am so BDSM that I even keep my atomiser behind bars.”

Friend: “Sugar?”
Aemilia Hawk: “No thank you, I am sweet enough. If I get any sweeter, I will be out of a job.”

Friend: “Wow, very tidy box tie. Where did you hide the rope join?”
Aemilia Hawk: “I magicked it away with pixie dust and a few random but occultly significant cusses.”

Aemilia Hawk: “I dislike the title ‘rigger’. I once knew a guy called Rigger and he was an asshole. ‘Ropeist’ or perhaps ‘Bondageur’ sounds far better. Ropesse! I’m a Ropesse!”

Aemilia Hawk: “According to a popular fast food eatery, I can have My sub My way!”

Aemilia Hawk: ” Smile and the world smiles with you! Well mostly. Apparently. I have yet to experience this, so I really have no basis to go by.”

Aemilia Hawk: “I have noticed that everyone on this planet can be placed in one of two categories: Those who create or those who procreate. Alas, it seems the latter is significantly higher in abundance.”

Aemilia Hawk: “You need to blend in with the mundanes to avoid being classed as ‘weird’.”
Friend: “Baaa, baaa, baaa.”
Aemilia Hawk: “Close enough.”

Aemilia Hawk: “Of course, the trouble with having such an open mind is that people continually try to come along and poke it.”

Aemilia Hawk: “Well, if I called the wrong number then why did you answer the phone?”

Aemilia Hawk: “If you are going to lie, you could at least lie properly.”

Aemilia Hawk: “I love the smell of karma in the air!”

Aemilia Hawk: “Brains are awesome. I wish everyone had one.”

Flogging workshop at Dream Visions studio – Instructional video 05/10/14

Once more, I popped along to the Gatwick Dungeon in Surrey to teach a flogging workshop. Due to the amount of new people, I found myself repeating a few techniques that were shown in the previous workshop that was hosted 6 months ago. However, in this video there is a couple of pointers on sensation play and rest techniques that I often overlook in a workshop but which tend to come in really handy.

Let me point out again that nothing compares to actually going to one of my workshops and learning from me personally, there is an insane amount of information that simply cannot be covered by watching a few videos or having me there to guide you through the steps and nuances when I finally stop talking. But for those people who are overseas or who are too nervous to attend one, I hope this helps a little.

A big thankyou to Dream Visions Studio for filming this video at the workshop and to my play partner, Jinx, who did a little bunnying for me.

And, of course, if you want to get yourself a decent pair of floggers or a Dragons tail, check out my Kabunza Etsy shop!

Event review: Kinkfest UK 2014

Earlier this year, I was asked to take part and teach workshops at the UK’s largest and newest BDSM educational conference and event, Kinkfest UK. To say it was an honour to have been able to take part is an understatement and over the course of its 2 day debut, it quickly became my favorite event of 2014 and one of my favourite BDSM events of this past decade.

Concentrating more on the safety and knowledge aspects of BDSM during the day by hosting a large and very diverse assortment of workshops and classes, while during the evenings having a large environment to practice in and have fun with new-found skills, as well as having live performances of fire play and Japanese rope bondage, Kinkfest UK has it all. In fact, I think the only thing it lacked was a market.

Held in the same venue as they hold the Midland peer rope evenings at the Xtasia club in Birmingham, I ran several flogging workshops over the course of the event and I also managed to get in some very fun rope (photos below). They have expressed wishes to continue Kinkfest UK as a yearly event and I for one really hope they do. This event was simply awesome and given the chance, I would gleefully attend again.

A Velvet Thought – Mistresses Musings: Update 13/08/14

The summer months have been very busy. Workshops, demonstrations, Kabunza. In fact “busy” is quite an understatement. But as Winter nears, I will be getting more time to continue my blog musings and get back into writing again.

To give you an idea of what to expect in the way of content, I have made a short list of the things I plan to write about first:

  1. Rope. Lots of rope. So much rope that your eyes might get friction burns!
  2. Flogging and Dragon tails. I actually managed to get some nice photos of a casual play at an event along with some photos from a couple of workshops. Expect to see writings on a few techniques.
  3. Kabunza bullwhips and chainmail nipple clamps. Need I say more?
  4. Kinkfest UK! And the part I played in one of my favorite events of the year. Along with a review.
  5. Chocolate pussy moulds. Yes, I said “Chocolate pussy moulds”. Plus inventive ways to incorporate them into BDSM play.

And much much more. Now all I need is the time to sit down and write about it all.

The Swindon Advertiser: Corrections.

Not too long ago, I was interviewed for a local newspaper article. You can see the article here:

http://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/news/11361368.Dominatrix_rules_punishment_business_with_a_very_firm_hand/

It was published today and while they have captured most of the information that I was trying to portray, they did get a few things wrong. This blog post is just to correct those few little things so that there is no misunderstandings.

LIZ MACKLEY meets lifestyle dominatrix Aemilia Hawk…

I am not a Dominatrix. I do not charge people for BDSM orientated “sessioning”. But I am a lifestyle practitioner of BDSM.

The 36-year-old, who also runs her own online business selling chainmail jewellery and leather floggers, is one of the leading teachers in Kimbach – a particular type of Japanese rope bondage.

My business is more than just online. But more importantly, it is pronounced “Kinbaku”, and while I have been taught by and have had experiences with many leading teachers, I have not proclaimed to be a teacher of it myself.
I practice it, I do not teach it.

In fact, there are two phrases well known throughout the scene – ‘RISK’ – risk aware consensual kink, and SSC – safe, sane and consensual.

It is R.A.C.K.

“When you use a bull whip you never actually touch the person, you just crack it near them. It takes a lot of skill.

You generally do not “crack it” directly on the person, but wrapping it around them after cracking it at the side of them is often done.

She also holds regular workshops to show customers how to use the equipment she makes safely, as well as how to do Japanese rope bondage.

Mostly workshops on flogging, whips and dragon tails. Anything I build. But not rope!
I do NOT teach rope! I just have a major interest in it and practice it regularly!

I hope this clears up any misconceptions. Part of the reason why so many people have the wrong idea about BDSM is purely because of inaccuracies and misinformation.
