Let me just point out that nothing compares to actually going to one of my workshops and learning from me personally, there is an insane amount of information that simply cannot be covered by watching a few videos or having me there to guide you through the steps and nuances when I finally stop talking. But for those people who are overseas or who are too nervous to attend one, I hope these help a little 🙂

Oh! And subscribe to my YouTube an’ shit 😉

London Alternative Market 03/09/17 Workshop audio recording

An audio recording of the workshop I did at the London Alternative Market (LAM) on the 3rd September 2017.

A big thank you to everyone at the LAM for doing this and allowing me to share it. Check out their website in the link above if you would like to know more about their event and I hope you all enjoy the recording 🙂

Kinkfest 2015

Once again, I braved the largest kink event in the UK to teach workshops.

Every year Kinkfest UK hosts a large educational conference and party over the course of a weekend, centred around all aspects of BDSM and fetish. It has a huge assortment of workshops, classes and discussion groups.

Unfortunately, this year I did not manage to “get my rigger on” at the peer rope. But I did have lots of fun teaching several groups of tremendously awesome people.

If you get the chance to attend in 2016, it is something I highly recommend and I will be back for a third year to run workshops on the art of flogging. It is held at the Xtasia club in Birmingham. If you read my blog and spot me there in 2016, come over and say “Hi!”.

They have expressed a wish to have some kind of flogging performance at the next one. About the best I could do would probably be to just get up and play, but we shall see how it goes and what they have in mind closer to the date.

A lot of photos were taken of me at the 2015 event by the official photographers. But many contain nudity and are images of me at play while attending the afterparty, so I will be restricting my blog to having only a few. The rest can be seen in my Fetlife gallery if you are curious.

If photography at an event is something that makes you nervous, Know that the event photographers always seek permission before taking photographs and they are incredibly discrete. Any face in an image that is not the centre of attention is burred completely out.

All these photos were taken at my Art of Flogging workshops. Enjoy.

We did it!

It is amazing and heart warming to see so many enthusiastic kinksters help us raise the funding for this project!

As we go through the creative process, we will be keeping everyone up to date on our project page: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/835910848/the-art-of-flogging

We want to send huge hugs and an massive “Thank You!” to everyone who has pledged! Lets fling some floggers!

The Art of Flogging with Aemilia Hawk – Our Kickstarter is now live!

We have only 30 days! Go to https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/835910848/the-art-of-flogging to see our live Kickstarter page and make a pledge!

About this project

With the release of movies such as “50 Shades of Grey” and “The Secretary”, I have noticed a large number of newcomers to the BDSM scene over the past few years, many of whom are still finding their feet and exploring this marvellous world. The use of a flogger is usually among the first steps after discovering this alternative lifestyle and with “The Art of Flogging” DVD project, our aim is to bring the basics of practice and safety to these newcomers, and to enthusiasts all over the world, while still being able to teach advanced techniques to those who are experienced in the practice of impact play. A complete comprehensive resource for any flogging enthusiast, our DVD will be packed with tutorials and instructional videos. Here are some of the things we plan on including:

  • Beginner instructionals.
  • Practice techniques.
  • Safety tutorials.
  • Warm up techniques.
  • Sensation play with floggers.
  • Rest techniques.
  • Flogger maintenance.
  • Advanced techniques: Carouselling, Ricochet Flogging, 4-point and 6-point Florentine flogging.
  • After-care advice.
  • And much more!

My Background

I am the owner of Kabunza Craftwerks and have been a lifestyle practitioner of BDSM for many years. I have been in the media as a mentor in various BDSM arts and I frequent the majority of the south of England teaching workshops and demonstrations as well as doing performances of these arts. While I practice many forms of BDSM, I am mostly known for my expertise in impact play.

Where will the money go?

With having passionate people working on this project, at £1500 we are looking at the bare minimum of funding. Of course, the more we raise, the better a DVD we will be able to produce. But with that £1500 backing we will be able to pay for:

  • Video recording equipment, lighting etc.
  • Editing and sound.
  • The required software and personnel.
  • Studio space rental.
  • Our first production of DVDs.

Rewards!

We are offering numerous rewards for those who give us their hearty support! From a copy of the DVD when it is complete to a huge set of custom designed BDSM impact toys, we will be working our socks off to bring you some amazing goodies. Plus, all of our rewards will include free postage worldwide! One of the special things which we are releasing for this Kickstarter is the limited editionKabunza Minipoi “Black Hawk” replica flogger. These floggers will not be available to purchase and will be made purely for those people who have selected to donate £50 or more.

Why Kickstarter?

People have been asking me to make tutorial videos for quite some time. I decided that if I were to do something along these lines, then I should approach doing it as I would approach building a set of Kabunza floggers; I should aim for making something ‘exceptional’, and making decent tutorials is no cheap endeavour. They require time, space and professionals, which in the end not only greatly increases the quality of the finished product but also requires a significant chunk of money. A friend of mine suggested Kickstarter as a means to achieve this goal and after some research and thought on the matter, here we are!

How can you help?

The first answer is: make a pledge! We urge you to get involved. Even a small pledge helps to get us that much closer to our goal! Secondly, let everyone know about our Kickstarter project and the DVD! In order to achieve our goal we really need to reach out into our communities and spheres of influence to get the word out there. You can post on Fetlife, Twitter, Facebook, and even email this Kickstarter link to those you think would like to know about the project. Every person you tell about “The Art of Flogging” is a huge help.

Thank you for your support!

Kicking!

Just to bring everyone up to date on “The art of Flogging” DVD Kickstarter project:

The company chosen to work with us on filming the project is: The Kink Domane.
They will be able to supply the equipment, manpower, filming, editing and sound for the DVD.
We have already finished the promotional video for the project and we are hoping to have it live within a week.
We will have only 30 days to reach our target goal and all information about what we hope to include will be posted as soon as the project goes live. I will be supplying a list of the things which the project funds will need to be spent on in order to complete the project, so everyone will know where the money is going. Obviously the more funding we make, the more we will be able to do and the better we will be able to do it.

All advertising and backing of this project will be greatly appreciated and there will be some nice rewards given away to people who lend monetary support to the project.
There will also be options for kink orientated businesses to be plugged in the DVD by sponsoring the project.

I have started a group on Fetlife to spread the word and keep people who do not follow my blog up to date. You can join this group at:
https://fetlife.com/groups/119378
This should end up being something pretty awesome.

A Velvet Thought – Mistresses Musings: To kick or not to kick

I get asked, almost on a daily basis, to make some official tutorial videos on flogging and similar. While many admit the snippits of video that have managed to be taken at a couple of my workshops have been helpful, people have been screaming for more and in more detail.

In truth, the amount of knowledge I have rattling around in my brain on it all would be enough to fill a DVD.

And so it has been suggested that I might try doing just that. The main problem being, well, everything.

Video recording equipment, lighting, any other equipment, software or personnel that may be required, editing. Everything costs money, experience and time. Even something as small as a youtube video.

A friend of mine suggested that I should start a Kickstarter project to try and get funding for creating a DVD.

I would really like to know people’s opinion and if anyone would add to the backing of such a project.

Please leave your comments below and let me know your thoughts.

Flogging workshop at Dream Visions studio – Instructional video 05/10/14

Once more, I popped along to the Gatwick Dungeon in Surrey to teach a flogging workshop. Due to the amount of new people, I found myself repeating a few techniques that were shown in the previous workshop that was hosted 6 months ago. However, in this video there is a couple of pointers on sensation play and rest techniques that I often overlook in a workshop but which tend to come in really handy.

Let me point out again that nothing compares to actually going to one of my workshops and learning from me personally, there is an insane amount of information that simply cannot be covered by watching a few videos or having me there to guide you through the steps and nuances when I finally stop talking. But for those people who are overseas or who are too nervous to attend one, I hope this helps a little.

A big thankyou to Dream Visions Studio for filming this video at the workshop and to my play partner, Jinx, who did a little bunnying for me.

And, of course, if you want to get yourself a decent pair of floggers or a Dragons tail, check out my Kabunza Etsy shop!

The Swindon Advertiser: Corrections.

Not too long ago, I was interviewed for a local newspaper article. You can see the article here:

http://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/news/11361368.Dominatrix_rules_punishment_business_with_a_very_firm_hand/

It was published today and while they have captured most of the information that I was trying to portray, they did get a few things wrong. This blog post is just to correct those few little things so that there is no misunderstandings.

LIZ MACKLEY meets lifestyle dominatrix Aemilia Hawk…

I am not a Dominatrix. I do not charge people for BDSM orientated “sessioning”. But I am a lifestyle practitioner of BDSM.

The 36-year-old, who also runs her own online business selling chainmail jewellery and leather floggers, is one of the leading teachers in Kimbach – a particular type of Japanese rope bondage.

My business is more than just online. But more importantly, it is pronounced “Kinbaku”, and while I have been taught by and have had experiences with many leading teachers, I have not proclaimed to be a teacher of it myself.
I practice it, I do not teach it.

In fact, there are two phrases well known throughout the scene – ‘RISK’ – risk aware consensual kink, and SSC – safe, sane and consensual.

It is R.A.C.K.

“When you use a bull whip you never actually touch the person, you just crack it near them. It takes a lot of skill.

You generally do not “crack it” directly on the person, but wrapping it around them after cracking it at the side of them is often done.

She also holds regular workshops to show customers how to use the equipment she makes safely, as well as how to do Japanese rope bondage.

Mostly workshops on flogging, whips and dragon tails. Anything I build. But not rope!
I do NOT teach rope! I just have a major interest in it and practice it regularly!

I hope this clears up any misconceptions. Part of the reason why so many people have the wrong idea about BDSM is purely because of inaccuracies and misinformation.

Kabunza: Headquarters!

Kabunza has finally moved into it’s own headquarters!

We moved in last month and aside from putting up some room dividers (which I am hoping to do as soon as possible to section off our areas), we have pretty much settled in and made ourselves at home.

Our workshop and office is located in the heart of Swindon (the address can be seen on the Kabunza Facebook page, or you can message me and I will relay it to you) and is open most weekdays (depending on what events we will be attending) for visitors to come along and browse our current stock or even have a look through our leathers to order something custom to be made. I am also willing to give tuition at this location for anyone wishing to learn techniques from me privately.

Because we share a building with a kink friendly publishing firm, we have access to a lot of space, so with a little luck we will also be hosting a few workshops and events here (I have even been thinking about hosting a small but regular peer rope event). I will keep people posted about these through my Kabunza page on this blog as and when we plan them.

Of course, you will still be able to purchase our items through our Etsy shop, but now everyone has the added option of popping by the place where everything is made, having a look at our construction process and browsing through it all in person!
