The Art of Flogging with Aemilia Hawk – Our Kickstarter is now live!

We have only 30 days! Go to https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/835910848/the-art-of-flogging to see our live Kickstarter page and make a pledge!

About this project

With the release of movies such as “50 Shades of Grey” and “The Secretary”, I have noticed a large number of newcomers to the BDSM scene over the past few years, many of whom are still finding their feet and exploring this marvellous world. The use of a flogger is usually among the first steps after discovering this alternative lifestyle and with “The Art of Flogging” DVD project, our aim is to bring the basics of practice and safety to these newcomers, and to enthusiasts all over the world, while still being able to teach advanced techniques to those who are experienced in the practice of impact play. A complete comprehensive resource for any flogging enthusiast, our DVD will be packed with tutorials and instructional videos. Here are some of the things we plan on including:

  • Beginner instructionals.
  • Practice techniques.
  • Safety tutorials.
  • Warm up techniques.
  • Sensation play with floggers.
  • Rest techniques.
  • Flogger maintenance.
  • Advanced techniques: Carouselling, Ricochet Flogging, 4-point and 6-point Florentine flogging.
  • After-care advice.
  • And much more!

My Background

I am the owner of Kabunza Craftwerks and have been a lifestyle practitioner of BDSM for many years. I have been in the media as a mentor in various BDSM arts and I frequent the majority of the south of England teaching workshops and demonstrations as well as doing performances of these arts. While I practice many forms of BDSM, I am mostly known for my expertise in impact play.

Where will the money go?

With having passionate people working on this project, at £1500 we are looking at the bare minimum of funding. Of course, the more we raise, the better a DVD we will be able to produce. But with that £1500 backing we will be able to pay for:

  • Video recording equipment, lighting etc.
  • Editing and sound.
  • The required software and personnel.
  • Studio space rental.
  • Our first production of DVDs.

Rewards!

We are offering numerous rewards for those who give us their hearty support! From a copy of the DVD when it is complete to a huge set of custom designed BDSM impact toys, we will be working our socks off to bring you some amazing goodies. Plus, all of our rewards will include free postage worldwide! One of the special things which we are releasing for this Kickstarter is the limited editionKabunza Minipoi “Black Hawk” replica flogger. These floggers will not be available to purchase and will be made purely for those people who have selected to donate £50 or more.

Why Kickstarter?

People have been asking me to make tutorial videos for quite some time. I decided that if I were to do something along these lines, then I should approach doing it as I would approach building a set of Kabunza floggers; I should aim for making something ‘exceptional’, and making decent tutorials is no cheap endeavour. They require time, space and professionals, which in the end not only greatly increases the quality of the finished product but also requires a significant chunk of money. A friend of mine suggested Kickstarter as a means to achieve this goal and after some research and thought on the matter, here we are!

How can you help?

The first answer is: make a pledge! We urge you to get involved. Even a small pledge helps to get us that much closer to our goal! Secondly, let everyone know about our Kickstarter project and the DVD! In order to achieve our goal we really need to reach out into our communities and spheres of influence to get the word out there. You can post on Fetlife, Twitter, Facebook, and even email this Kickstarter link to those you think would like to know about the project. Every person you tell about “The Art of Flogging” is a huge help.

Thank you for your support!

Kicking!

Just to bring everyone up to date on “The art of Flogging” DVD Kickstarter project:

The company chosen to work with us on filming the project is: The Kink Domane.
They will be able to supply the equipment, manpower, filming, editing and sound for the DVD.
We have already finished the promotional video for the project and we are hoping to have it live within a week.
We will have only 30 days to reach our target goal and all information about what we hope to include will be posted as soon as the project goes live. I will be supplying a list of the things which the project funds will need to be spent on in order to complete the project, so everyone will know where the money is going. Obviously the more funding we make, the more we will be able to do and the better we will be able to do it.

All advertising and backing of this project will be greatly appreciated and there will be some nice rewards given away to people who lend monetary support to the project.
There will also be options for kink orientated businesses to be plugged in the DVD by sponsoring the project.

I have started a group on Fetlife to spread the word and keep people who do not follow my blog up to date. You can join this group at:

This should end up being something pretty awesome.

A Velvet Thought – Mistresses Musings: To kick or not to kick

I get asked, almost on a daily basis, to make some official tutorial videos on flogging and similar. While many admit the snippits of video that have managed to be taken at a couple of my workshops have been helpful, people have been screaming for more and in more detail.

In truth, the amount of knowledge I have rattling around in my brain on it all would be enough to fill a DVD.

And so it has been suggested that I might try doing just that. The main problem being, well, everything.

Video recording equipment, lighting, any other equipment, software or personnel that may be required, editing. Everything costs money, experience and time. Even something as small as a youtube video.

A friend of mine suggested that I should start a Kickstarter project to try and get funding for creating a DVD.

I would really like to know people’s opinion and if anyone would add to the backing of such a project.

Please leave your comments below and let me know your thoughts.

Quotations: 2014

Continuing the quotations of the year posts, here is the selection for 2014.

You can see the ‘Quotations 2011’ post: Here
You can see the ‘Quotations 2012’ post: Here
You can see the ‘Quotations 2013’ post: Here

Favorite quotations of the past year (including some that I have not been able or bothered to ‘tweet‘) in a single blog post purely for fun.

As usual, no names will be mentioned (with the exception of my own) and people will be referred to in an anonymous fashion or title. Of course, you will all know who you are from being present when I had said the quote in question. Try also to bear in mind that almost all of these quotes have been said in the heat of the moment and are not meant to offend any readers of my blog.

Enjoy.

Friend:
“There was a young demon called Hawk,
Who thrilled when her toy couldn’t talk,
When its ass was aglow,
And its mouth formed an ‘O’,
She plugged up the hole with a cork.”

Aemilia Hawk: “You know it is going to be a good day when you have been saying ‘Clit’ for half an hour instead of ‘Clip'”.

Friend: “You wouldn’t want to eat a friend, would you?”
Aemilia Hawk: “Certainly not without pepper.”

Aemilia Hawk: “Those who say “there’s nothing like a nice cup of tea for calming the nerves” have never had ‘real’ tea.”

Aemilia Hawk: “Why is it that wherever I go, the resident idiot heads straight for me?”

Aemilia Hawk: “We all know how stupid the average person is. Now realise that, by definition, 50% of the population is dumber than that.”

Aemilia Hawk: “I am one of those bad things that can happen to good people.”

Aemilia Hawk: “I have noticed that most humans want to be good people. Just not ‘too’ good and not quite all the time.”

Aemilia Hawk: “I love dog’s but I often loath the people who keep them. They tend to be cowards who do not have the guts to bite people themselves.”

Aemilia Hawk: “Where have you been? You stink of mundane.”

Aemilia Hawk: “I am totally fluffy.”

Aemilia Hawk: “I am so BDSM that I even keep my atomiser behind bars.”

Friend: “Sugar?”
Aemilia Hawk: “No thank you, I am sweet enough. If I get any sweeter, I will be out of a job.”

Friend: “Wow, very tidy box tie. Where did you hide the rope join?”
Aemilia Hawk: “I magicked it away with pixie dust and a few random but occultly significant cusses.”

Aemilia Hawk: “I dislike the title ‘rigger’. I once knew a guy called Rigger and he was an asshole. ‘Ropeist’ or perhaps ‘Bondageur’ sounds far better. Ropesse! I’m a Ropesse!”

Aemilia Hawk: “According to a popular fast food eatery, I can have My sub My way!”

Aemilia Hawk: ” Smile and the world smiles with you! Well mostly. Apparently. I have yet to experience this, so I really have no basis to go by.”

Aemilia Hawk: “I have noticed that everyone on this planet can be placed in one of two categories: Those who create or those who procreate. Alas, it seems the latter is significantly higher in abundance.”

Aemilia Hawk: “You need to blend in with the mundanes to avoid being classed as ‘weird’.”
Friend: “Baaa, baaa, baaa.”
Aemilia Hawk: “Close enough.”

Aemilia Hawk: “Of course, the trouble with having such an open mind is that people continually try to come along and poke it.”

Aemilia Hawk: “Well, if I called the wrong number then why did you answer the phone?”

Aemilia Hawk: “If you are going to lie, you could at least lie properly.”

Aemilia Hawk: “I love the smell of karma in the air!”

Aemilia Hawk: “Brains are awesome. I wish everyone had one.”

Festive Celebrations

December 25th is associated with the birth of many pagan gods, including Mithra, Horus, Zeus and Sol Invictus (to name a fraction). The Roman festival of Saturnalia would also end around this time.

Christianity adopted many of these Pagan myths and traditions into its own customs at around 400AD.

Today Christians express outrage that Christmas is losing its Christian roots. Which is ironic considering it was Christians that hijacked the holiday in the first place to make it easier to convert new followers.

Nevertheless, whatever you hold faith in (even if you hold faith in nothing), this time of year is a wonderful opportunity to share love with friends and family, commit acts of goodwill to those who are less fortunate (if you need a reason to do that in the first place) and it is a time for adults to find their inner child (or at least make merry at every chance to do so).

The “reason for the season” is actually the axial tilt! Regardless. Happy “Whatever doesn’t offend you” and may it be filled with debauchery like no other!

Kabunza: Bullwhips

As usual, I seem to be incredibly busy lately. But here is a picture of something shiny to make up for it!

10341826_559486130834706_8803819825058491326_n

Anyone who knows me, or follows my blog, knew that I would end up building these eventually. I have made 4 bullwhips so far (of varying lengths) and while I do not plan on taking any custom orders for them yet, I will be building one on occasion to be put up for sale in our Kabunza Etsy shop. So, keep your eye out for them if you fancy grabbing one for your toy bag.

At the moment, I simply do not feel that I am good enough to be building them to specific measurements and criteria given to me by others. Hence why I will be building them at my own pace.

To date I have only been playing with nylon, but as I improve in skill, I am sure that I will end up wanting to experiment with kangaroo hide. So keep your eyes open for more posts along similar lines.

The whip in the photo is a 5 foot 12 plait black nylon paracord bullwhip with 2 bellies (one 8 plait and one 6 plait). Stainless steel 402 grade ball bearing shot loaded braided polyester core with a waxed nyltex shot blocker, 4 point nylon fall hitch and a 10 inch stainless steel rod handle. Stainless steel 8mm ring chainmail transition and pommel.

Flogging workshop at Dream Visions studio – Instructional video 05/10/14

Once more, I popped along to the Gatwick Dungeon in Surrey to teach a flogging workshop. Due to the amount of new people, I found myself repeating a few techniques that were shown in the previous workshop that was hosted 6 months ago. However, in this video there is a couple of pointers on sensation play and rest techniques that I often overlook in a workshop but which tend to come in really handy.

Let me point out again that nothing compares to actually going to one of my workshops and learning from me personally, there is an insane amount of information that simply cannot be covered by watching a few videos or having me there to guide you through the steps and nuances when I finally stop talking. But for those people who are overseas or who are too nervous to attend one, I hope this helps a little.

A big thankyou to Dream Visions Studio for filming this video at the workshop and to my play partner, Jinx, who did a little bunnying for me.

And, of course, if you want to get yourself a decent pair of floggers or a Dragons tail, check out my Kabunza Etsy shop!

Mine.

The softest of black suedes. A small sliver of a rare South African skin that I had been saving for something special. It was laid out flat next to the vibrant purple of a Spanish relaxed grain leather. The contrast was beautiful. The colours complimented each other and as I sat down to study the striations and view the detailing of the leathers further, she wrapped her arms around my shoulders and hugged me from behind. Nothing was said, she simply wanted to see.

It needed to be perfect. It needed to be special. She had picked the leathers, her favourite colours, and I was about to build it for her with my bare hands while she watched.

There is nothing quite like the smell of freshly cut leather. My blade sliced through her choices effortlessly as I cut the strips required. A soft but strong backing of the blackest night followed by the warm and vibrant colours that would accentuate and bring life to that darkness. I could not help feeling slightly amused at our dynamics similarities.

Metals next. The strongest of steel. Cold and hard. An armour of chain for its front and a little love willed into every ring as they were forcefully weaved together. As the skies darkened and turned to night, I flicked my workbench lamp on. The dim light glistened off the metal as I held it aloft to look closely at the weaved florets and I could feel her smile as she continued to watch it take shape in my hands.

The next step was aesthetics. Those little touches of beautification. Not because it needed such things, but because they are desired. The reflected shine from the steel bezel blazed into my eyes as I placed it in position, enhancing its every detail. The victorianesque patterns which oddly reminded me of rope whenever I looked at them closely were glistening in the light and I began to reminisce of the previous evenings play in the very spot where we were now. I was tempted to repeat the process. Her scent was constant and delicious, I could feel her soft breath on my neck and it would have been so easy to simply throw down my tools and grab her for another ropey roll on the floor, but this was important, so as I brought the hammer down roughly atop the clear crystal rivet center of the final touches, I shook the desire to the side and promised myself the pleasure at a later date.

It was late by the time I had finished. All was quiet as I stood in front of her with the finished creation and held it in the light where she could see it clearly.

“Are you sure?” I asked as I gave her a meaningful look.

Her meek grin was incredibly cute as she nodded back at me.

The last ingredient was already in place as I slipped the leather and steel collar around her.

Trust.

Unequivocal. Clear and pure. Trust.

Her smile widened as the click of the padlock shattered the silence and as I pulled her towards me by the belt, I gave her left nipple a playful pinch followed by a toothy grin.

“Mine” I growled through the smile as I wrapped her in an embrace.

Product review: Uberkinky Clone A Pussy Chocolate Kit

I must admit that I have been putting this review off for a little while now, mainly because I have been experimenting with ideas for the pussy mould.

Normally, I do not go for the novelty factor items that you can get from most sexually orientated shops but when presented with a list of items to review from my friend at Uberkinky, this item seemed to jump out at me.

It was just one of those days where I fancied a bit of chocolate, I guess.

And the Uberkinky Clone A Pussy Chocolate Kit seemed like a fine chance for a bit of fun and chocolate at the same time.

When I opted for this item, I was expecting something where you would literally dunk your privates in a quick setting chocolate in an effort to create a imprinted “replica” of it (but more likely to have it licked away by a significant other before any mould could ever set). I was wrong. It is a kit to create a gel-like mould of your private parts which is then continually reusable to make a replica of your privates out of anything you like.

But they suggest chocolate, and they even give you enough chocolate to create two replicas for yourself before you start getting inventive.

If properly stored, the mould you create can be used quite a few times before it starts to degrade and you are limited only by your imagination (and finding the things to shove in it). Private part shaped ice cubes (for use in play, obviously) as well as candle wax (for erotically shaped candles and wax play), but you can even fill the mould with liquid rubber to immortalize your nether regions for all time!

You could even make a pussy shaped bar of soap or “pussy on a rope” for that particularly sexy bathing experience, using mouldable glycerine soap (available at most hobby shops). You could place the rope in such a way that it looks like Japanese rope bondage of the privates or, If you wanted to be particularly naughty, you could arrange it so that the rope comes out where the opening of the pussy would normally be.

But I digress, these are all just possibilities that have come to mind from this (literally) fun-filled little novelty. The best ideas will obviously be unique to each individual but this is one of those toys that you can get very inventive with.

One thing I will mention is that the instructions tell you to microwave the chocolate. Do NOT do this! It will ruin the chocolate! Boil some water in a pan and place an empty plastic bowl in the water, then place the chocolate in the bowl and let it melt that way. Trust me, microwaves ruin chocolate.

Incidentally, if you prefer having a clone of male genitalia, Uberkinky also have the Clone a Willy Kit!
