Kabunza: “Black Hawk” poi floggers

Have you ever wanted a set of floggers just like mine? Well now you can have a pair!

The “Black Hawk” chainmail poi floggers were originally a completely unique, one-of-a-kind set created solely for my personal use in play, demonstrations, workshops and photoshoots. However, after many people have asked me for sets and after much coaxing by my partner, I have agreed to allow replicas to be custom created. These floggers will be limited to 30 sets and will come with a Kabunza certificate of authenticity which will be numbered, signed and dated.

The “Black Hawk” poi floggers have a longer than normal chain (a hefty 8.5 inches) with a unique chainmail hybrid weave that we call “Broken Persian” which we do not normally offer as an option on our standard sets of floggers. They are also heavier, due to having 36 falls instead of our standard 24 and come with reinforced double layered poi finger loops

Please be aware that these sets are only purchasable through our Etsy shop and will not be available at our event trade stands. Each set will take between two to three weeks to complete with each piece of leather being hand picked to be as close to the feel of the original Black Hawk’s as possible.

Details:
36x 18 inch mixed Brazilian black top grain leather falls (1 centimeter in width).
8.5 inch length of stainless steel “Broken Persian hybrid” weave chainmail (8mm rings) chain.
Italian black nappa leather Turks head embellishes.
Double layered South African black suede and Brazillian black top grain leather poi finger loops.

WARNING: These floggers will be difficult to use accurately compared to our standard poi flogger sets due to the extended length of the chain. We recommend practicing with them on a pillow before using them on a play partner.

Kabunza: Hyperlights, Tri-Layers and Whumpers. Oh my!

During the process of designing the improvements that I have recently been introducing into all of our standard Kabunza floggers, I have also been working on optional variations of flogger styles. I am happy to introduce the Kabunza “Tri-Layer” Floggers and Kabunza “Whumper” floggers to bolster our ranks of impact toy options.

Our flogger selection now consists of the following variations:

Hyperlight:
Hyperlight floggers are incredibly light and perfect for tickling or gently dragging across areas of sensitive skin. 48 luxuriously gentle 14 inch falls created only from silk suede or nappa. These floggers are super soft and intended to be used for sensation play rather than serious impact play. We normally create these floggers singly with a wrist loop and short 3 inch string of chainmail unless otherwise requested.

AAAP1070685

Minipoi:
To put it as simply as possible, Minipoi are essentially miniature versions of our standard poi floggers. 24 falls (16 inches in length) that are half the width of our standard and a 3 inch string of chainmail with lighter hardware and rings. Due to the thin width of the flogger falls (half a centimeter), these very light and quick variants tend to pack more of a sting than a thud. We normally make these floggers available for purchase singly unless otherwise requested.

AAAP1070436

Standard:
Our standard floggers are what I consider the best medium. During a process of over 3 years of testing, I have found that this weight and fall count to be the best average for general use. Not too light and not too heavy. Good for prolonged play and packing a decent impact at the same time. 24 falls, each at 1cm in width and with a length of between 16-18 inches depending on the style of flogger. We normally create this type of flogger in Nunchaku (16 inch falls) or Poi (18 inch falls) and are purchasable in pairs unless otherwise requested.

AAAP1070498

Whumper:
Our Whumper floggers consist of a larger fall width of 1.5cm and include wider and heavier hardware and rings. These floggers pack significantly more weight and wallop with each impact. In the hands of a strong arm and sadistic nature, expect severe bruising when used. With 24 falls, we normally create this type of flogger in Nunchaku (16 inch falls) or Poi (18 inch falls) and are purchasable in pairs unless otherwise requested.

AAAP1070648

Tri-Layer:
Our Tri-Layer floggers are a little different in that they consist of 36 falls instead of our standard 24 and are made from 3 separate hides, usually one leather, one suede and one nappa. Offering a veritable plethora of sensation options. The falls have a width of 1cm, are usually created in the Nunchaku (16 inch falls) or Poi (18 inch falls) styles and are purchasable in pairs unless otherwise requested.

AAAP1070346

And, of course, our current style types consist of:

Poi (as seen above):
Designed with some of the more creative or aesthetic styles of play in mind (including Florentine), our standard poi floggers consist of 18 inch falls, a 5 inch string of chainmail that has been created with 8mm rings in metals of stainless steel, blackened steel, brass, bronze or a mixture of the aforementioned metals and ending in a pair of leather or suede finger loops. This style of flogger is usually created in matching pairs.

Nunchaku (as seen above):
Each of our Nunchaku are built with efficiency in mind and some techniques (such as ricochet flogging) can only be done effectively with this style of flogger. Well balanced with 16 inch falls, a solid red oak handle, a 3 inch string of chainmail that has been created with 10mm rings in metals of stainless steel, blackened steel, brass, bronze or a mixture of the aforementioned metals and a plated steel ball bearing swivel connection. The falls of these floggers will never tangle and are easy to keep spinning for prolonged play.

With hard work and determination, Kabunza has been improving in leaps and bounds over this past year and once again we are almost ready to jump up to the next level. But I will announce the news as we progress. All I will say for now is that new designs are constantly being imagined, expect more BDSM and impact play creations to fill our ranks in the very near future, we will be expanding into new areas of creativity and, with a bit of luck, new literal areas as well.

If you do not see something you would like to purchase already up for sale in our Etsy shop, do not hesitate to contact us with a custom order request.

Until the next update, happy shopping!

Kabunza: More “whump”

At Kabunza, I am forever trying to improve our creations. Our range of floggers have gone through many ‘upgrades’ over the past year and personally using them on a frequent basis helps a lot when it comes to the refinement of our designs.

With the recent success of our Minipoi floggers and their steady introduction into our permanent products, I thought it was time to upgrade our normal floggers once again.

This weekend, Sunday 9th March, will be our first ever trade stand in London at the LFF (London Fetish Fair). I thought it might be a good place to introduce the latest upgrade. I have worked out a new measuring system to squeeze in as much leather into our flogger O-rings as possible, adding extra weight and thickness to all our standard ranges of Poi and Nunchaku floggers.

I want to bring you more “whump” with every spin!

Even better will be the fact that our prices will not budge! Instead, I will be placing all the older sets of our floggers on sale at a reduced price until the last stock of our previous design are gone.

In the words of Austin Powers: “London, baby, yeah!”

Kabunza: Mini Poi Floggers

Many people have a little difficulty with coordination the first time they pick up a pair of poi floggers. This is natural. It does require practice before a person is able to make it flow, use both hands and look fluid.

Ever in our effort to bring as many options to our customer base as possible, we have now created the Mini Poi Flogger. We will be selling these individually instead of in pairs as a significantly cheaper option compared to purchasing a full size set of our Poi Floggers.

While these Mini Poi will be excellent for sensation play, super fast play or even simply for a lessened impact, they will also make wonderful practice tools for those people wishing to work their way up to the larger and heavier Poi Flogger sets.

With a fall length of 16 inches (compared to 18 inches in our normal sets) and width of half a centimeter (compared to a centimeter in our normal sets), we only call them mini because they are smaller than our normal sets. They make wonderful stand-alone toys as well.

Here is a photo showing the comparison:

Our new Mini Poi Floggers are now available for sale in our Etsy Shop.

Enjoy 😉

Otonawa workshops with Peer Rope London

I have been incredibly busy this past month, but I finally have the time to sit down and write a few posts for my currently neglected blogs.

First up: A short post about the extended 4 day weekend of Otonawa workshops and Peer Rope London events that we had attended this past week while they are still fresh in my memory.

Mister Otonawa and his lovely wife Tsubasa are one of my favorite Kinbaku performance couples. They bring to the stage a mix of Kinbaku with stand-up comedy and sideshow theatrics. Their performances are incredibly unique and entertaining (Mister Otonawa is also the inventor of ‘Air Kinbaku’, rope without rope).

AAAPicture 003

When Benjamin was asked to safety monitor the workshops and help anyone who may be having a little difficulty while taking the classes, I jumped at the chance to tag along and perhaps learn a few things in the process (I find it a little funny that Benjamin was so busy doing the monitoring over the 4 days that he did not get to tie me up at all).

One of the evenings was an open stage night and we were treated to a full performance by Mister Otonawa and Tsubasa. The word ‘Awesome’ comes to mind when I think back to that particular night.

Luckily, I had taken videos of all the lessons so that Benjamin and I can refer back to them when opportunities arise to practice. I personally sat in on one of the workshops, partnered up with a friend of mine, and I think we learned a lot.

I managed to break out my poi floggers and dragon tails during the evenings and moments between workshops (at one point having 6 people lined up in a row and bent over while I flogged up and down the line) and even encouraged Mister Otonawa and his wife to have a go.

I wish to send out a big thankyou to the organisers of the whole wonderful weekend (I am not sure if they are comfortable with names being mentioned, so I will simply say ‘organisers’ as they know who they are). We had a fantastic time.

It was a trip down Roper Lane that I will not soon forget.

Private party ‘Fire Poi’ Photoshoot and videos 31/08/13

I was playing with fire at the birthday party of a dear friend of mine. As chance would have it, a few photos and videos were taken in the process:

Kabunza: Chocolate Decadence

I had to do it sooner or later: The first matching set of BDSM impact play toys by Kabunza.

When I originally decided to start building a matching set, it was also going to include a matching collar, wrist and ankle cuffs, and a necklace for the Dominant that would have the key to the collar and cuffs as a pendant. Then I realised that the amount of cash I would end up needing to charge someone for all of that, and the matching toy collection as well, would likely be outside the range of a standard budget (not to mention incredibly hefty in materials and time consuming on my part).
So, despite being able to do it (who knows, I may get a custom order for such a set in the future), I decided to simply stick with a collection of impact toys.

AAAP1050901

This first matching collection brings about the introduction of Dragon Tails into our range of BDSM products. Which, despite being one of the more difficult items to incorporate chainmail into, seems to have turned out rather nicely. I have personally tested the design and I am more than happy with the results. These things pack a thrilling sting, feel lovely in the hand and, at the same time, are very aesthetically pleasing.

Anyway, let us get down to the details:

“Chocolate Decadence” BDSM Impact play set:

This set consists of 5 items in total: A pair of Kabunza Poi Floggers, A pair of Kabunza Nunchaku Floggers and a Kabunza Dragon Tail.

Details of the “Chocolate Decadence” Poi Floggers:
These have a hefty total length of 28 inches from tip to tip. They give a wonderful “thuddy” experience.
Statistics:
18 inch European chocolate suede leather falls (1 centimeter in width).
5 inch length of solid bronze “Box Chain” weave chainmail (8mm rings) chain.
Black Italian goat skin leather Turks head embellishes.
European chocolate suede poi finger loops.

AAAP1050905

Details of the “Chocolate Decadence” Nunchaku Floggers:
These have a hefty total length of 28 inches from tip to tip. Clearly a flogger for the discerning connaisseur. On an additional note: These floggers will never tangle due to the ball bearing swivel.
Statistics:
16 inch European chocolate suede leather falls (1 centimeter in width).
3 inch length of solid bronze “Box chain” weave chainmail (8mm rings) chain.
Black Italian goat skin leather Turks head embellishes.
8 inch Black ‘Chinese red oak’ wood Nunchaku handles with engraved, European chocolate suede leather embellished, grip.
Plated steel ball bearing swivel connection.

AAAP1050915

Details of the “Chocolate Decadence” Dragons Tail:
The newest addition to the Kabunza arsenal: The Dragons Tail. With a flickable length of over 35 inches, this tail comes with a guaranteed sting which will, no doubt (we hope), be administered with love.
Statistics:
25 inch European chocolate suede tail.
10 inch handle containing a solid pinewood core, layered inside the leather of the tail (this is a single length of leather) to assure strength and have the added bonus of a very comfortable grip.
Embellished and strengthened further with solid bronze “European 4:1” chainmail and waxed black cotton cord.

AAAP1050857

Why did I decide on the first set being something other than black? Because I wanted to do something different. Something a little ‘Steampunky’ and something that incorporated Bronze instead of the more commonly used metals.

Our aim as a business is (and always will be) to bring only the pinnacle of quality and craftsmanship to the table while also standing out from the crowd, avoiding the norm (even amongst the kink) and to be unquestionably unique.

I think this first matching set (of what will hopefully be many) pulls off all of those aspects rather nicely.

AAAP1050888

The set has been given a name for a reason; this set is one-of-a-kind. I have no more of this type of suede leather and I doubt I will be getting any more bronze rings unless specifically requested for other custom creations.

It is now available for sale in our Etsy shop and I wish any potential buyers the best of luck in attaining it. Once it is sold, it will be incredibly unlikely that I will ever have the similar materials to build another.

Kabunza: Nunchaku!

It should come as no surprise that I eventually started working on more flogger designs for Kabunza.

Detached handled floggers being next on my list; the finished products of our newest design have turned out wonderfully.

Each set has plated steel ball bearing swivel joints on the handles to prevent the falls tangling and for complete fluidity of motion. Ricochet flogging has never been easier.

And, of course, everything is customisable. Including our trademark Kabunza chainmail detachments.

AAAP1050739

Clearly a flogger for the discerning connaisseur.

I will be demonstrating these and our Poi floggers this coming weekend at SWAMP in Bristol. I look forward to seeing people there.

If, however, you cannot wait that long to get your hands on a set; You can visit our online shop at: https://www.etsy.com/shop/Kabunza.

Fire Poi at the DV8 Fetish festival, 29/06/13

Over the weekend, Benjamin, my partner and I attended the DV8 fetish festival in Kent. The Kabunza trade stand did well, we met many kinksters and even had a dip in the pool (nudity was mandatory).

As soon as darkness descended, I started messing around with my fire poi; I tried attempting some slower spinning and single poi spinning. However, I failed miserably at the slow single poi spinning near the end. I just get too excited.

But it attracted quite a crowd and a couple of videos were recorded of one of the burns.

So, enjoy.

Flogging workshop and first-time Kabunza trade stand at the BBB

Whenever I am asked to host a workshop, give tuition or give a demonstration, I always leap at the chance. It is incredibly rewarding and I truly believe that one of the best things anyone with a well practiced skill can do for the BDSM community is to pass on their knowledge to willing students safely. There are a lot of people out there who are reckless (even dangerous) but teach their activities anyway, (often simply to stroke their own egos) despite how unsafe it may be. It can sometimes be very confusing or even scary enough to put people off trying or learning new things. My recommendation to anyone taking advice from anyone on any BDSM activity is to do a little research into the competence of the person(s) giving out their information and also briefly on the subject matter in question (be it flogging, whips, shibari or any BDSM skill) using that magical tool: The internet. Trust me, for the safety of both yourself and those you play with, it never hurts to do a little research and anyone with real knowledge or skill will be apparent from the tat.

I tend to be very hands-on and interactive in my workshops; I like people to ask questions, I like people to talk to me about their own experiences so that I can explain or perhaps even learn something new myself (nobody ever stops learning) and I always try to get people out of their seats to physically practice anything I am trying to teach. Actual practice of any skill makes perfect and I think being able to actively talk people through and demonstrate safely as they are attempting new skills tends to alleviate a very large portion of simple first-time learning hiccups.

Having said that; I am happy to say that the flogging workshop at the Birmingham Bizarre Bazaar received some wonderful feedback and comments. It seemed as though everyone had a wonderful time and I cannot express how rewarding it is to watch people putting their new-found teachings into practice over the course of an event (having a room full of flying florantining floggers can be an incredibly fun thing to watch).

Even the lovely Mistress Victoria from Uberkinky (who was a pleasure to finally meet face to face) wrote a sparkling review of the experience, which you can read on her website blog: Here.

In response to the many people who have asked me to do some Youtube videos and tutorials: I do hope to get some made eventually, but it is finding someone who would be willing to film me and has decent enough equipment and software to do so. It will be done, it is just a question of time and expense (anyone wishing to participate in this kind of project, please feel free to contact me).

And to answer the question that so many people directed at me about my collection of floggers at the workshop: The straight handled floggers were from Jack’s Floggers, The ball handled floggers were from Jack’s floggers and Edgeplay and the majority of the floggers that you saw that evening (the poi floggers) were from our very own Kabunza Craftwerks (we do accept custom orders if you would like a personalised set made).

As well as the workshop, it was also Kabunza‘s first ever trade stand at the BBB. We received some wonderful feedback on our products and many people walked home with shiny new Kabunza collars, jewellery and floggers. We are gleefully looking forward to any possibilities of trading there again. The atmosphere and people at this event are simply awesome.

To sum up this post, I would just like to send out a few thankyou’s :

  • To the BBB market and after party organizers for offering us the opportunity to have our Kabunza trade stand represented at their event, for the ample support they gave us, for allowing me the honour of hosting a workshop for them and for their very encouraging and complimentary words throughout.
  • To everyone who made a purchase at the Kabunza trade stand. We know from all your lovely comments and appreciation photos that our hard work is going to good homes. We hope you get as much joy from them through their use and wear as we have had in creating them.
  • To everyone who attended the workshop. I hope everyone had fun (I know many did from the comments that I have received on Facebook and Fetlife but I never tire from hearing your thoughts and I am sure the readers of my blog would love to hear your comments if anyone would like to post any below).
  • To my ever diligent partner for pouring her blood, sweat and tears (three of my favourite things to squeeze out of her) into customising and altering almost every purchased Kabunza item at the event. She really worked hard.
  • To my Benjamin. Who, without him, none of the above would of happened and who embraced everything that I inflicted upon him at the workshop (and afterwards) with a delicious smile. As I have always said; “It takes two to play”, and in that respect I am always greatly appreciative of him and feel incredibly lucky to have him as my own.
